    New biopic of Carl Sagan starring Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar Jones

    If you’re a fan of stargazing, movie biopics, or both, a new feature project is about to combine the two together into an astronomically stunning show that sure is. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sebastien Lelio is set to direct a new biopic called TravelersAbout the lives of the incomparable astronomer Carl Sagan and his wife, Anne Druyan, who has directed award-winning documentaries. Both roles will be filled Andrew Garfield And Daisy Edgar Jones respectively.


    Travelers It’s set to be a star-studded resume in every sense of the word, with Sebastien Lelio at the helm. He previously directed psychological dramas wonderland (2022), which featured Toby Jones (Tetris) and Florence Poe (do not worry my love). Among the film’s producers is Anne Druyan herself, along with Linda Obst and Ben Browning of FilmNation Entertainment who is currently shopping the project in Cannes. The screenplay, based on interviews with Druian and others who worked on Golden Record, was co-written by Lilio and Jessica Goldberg. The film so far stars Andrew Garfield as Carl Sagan himself and Daisy Edgar Jones as Ann Druyan. The two previously co-starred on FX’s under the banner of heaven.

    The premise of the film will be based in the year 1977, as humanity is preparing to launch the first interstellar probe missions, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. Carl Sagan puts together a team to come up with a message called the Golden Record that will carry out these missions into deep space. A collection of images and sounds that serve as the quintessential representation of humanity on Earth, and will be a tribute to the first contact with extraterrestrial life forms that either probe might reach during their journey. Ultimately, this mission that becomes a race against time also becomes a one-of-a-kind love story that brings Sagan and Druian together.

    Druyan has also expressed her thoughts on bringing the story of her life with Sagan to life, offering a perspective on the sheer attraction of their relationship and how it ripples the work they’ve accomplished that will live on forever in the far reaches of space.
