Aquaman was a joke – even Jason Momoa and the DCEU
Before Zack Snyder cast Momoa as Aquaman in a cameo role Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeThe most popular version of the character for general audiences was Aquaman from the animated television series Super Buddy. The animated show ran for nine seasons between 1973 and 1985, during which time the show’s portrayal of Aquaman primarily became known for talking to fish, which became a running joke. Due to the heavy influence of the animation, Aquaman became mostly a joke – that is, until Momoa took over.
Momoa originally auditioned for the role of Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although the role of Batman ultimately went to Ben Affleck, Snyder was impressed with Momoa’s experience, so he offered the actor the chance to play Aquaman and tailored the character to Momoa’s style and skills. Suddenly, the Aquaman who spoke to the catch was gone and became a joke, and it was the DCEU’s brilliant take on the character. Momoa will power Aquaman who is physically capable and ruthless in both Justice League And the solo movie of the hero.
Aquaman has the universe’s brightest future for the DCEU’s Justice League heroes

While Momoa’s Aquaman DC future looks bright, the same can’t be said for some of his Justice League co-stars.
Both Batman and Superman are rebooted in Gunn’s DC Universe. Henry Cavill was the first to be announced as his replacement, with Gunn revealing that a younger version of Clark Kent is headlining Superman: Legacywho writes and directs it. Batman will be rebooted Brave and daringwhich introduces Bruce’s son, Damian Wayne. Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller’s future as Wonder Woman and The Flash is currently unclear and could go either way. In the end, Momoa Aquamanthe hardest character for DC to get right after was a long running joke, may have a bright future for all of the Justice League.
